Our rule

Fair access to every home

noagent.rent does not allow listings or decisions that exclude people for who they are.

Malta's Equal Treatment of Persons Order (S.L. 460.15) bans discrimination on racial or ethnic origin in access to housing, including in adverts. It does not cover nationality. Our rule goes further: listings and messages may not exclude people by nationality, origin, religion or similar ("Maltese only", "EU only", "no [nationality]").

What landlords may ask for

  • Proof of income or employment, references, the rent record on noagent.rent
  • No pets, non-smokers, the maximum number of residents
  • A move-in date and a minimum term

How we enforce it

Listing texts are checked before they go live. A tenant can report a refusal from any viewing. If one landlord declines every applicant from one group, a person reviews it. Confirmed cases lead to a warning, then the account is closed.
